The 5 Order Types That Cause the Most Mistakes

Notes From the Field
In fulfillment, mistakes are rarely random. The same type of order causes the same type of problem in the same way. There are 5 order types that keep coming up on the floor, again and again:
The 5 Order Types That Cause the Most Mistakes
- Multi-variant orders — Different size/color combinations of the same product leave the door open to picking the wrong variant.
- Campaign-period orders with gift/promotional add-ons — If the add-on product logic isn't set up correctly, the risk of shipping too little or too much increases.
- Orders with missing or unclear address information — Addresses missing apartment/block details in particular lead to delivery delays.
- Repeat orders involving partial returns — If stock synchronization isn't handled correctly, the same mistake repeats.
- High-volume single-customer orders (bulk purchases) — Large orders that fall outside the standard packaging process require extra checks.
How to Reduce the Error Rate
The problem usually isn't the order itself; it's how we process it. Identifying these 5 types in advance and building integrated checkpoints into the system significantly reduces the error rate.
